Restrict what a member can do
Limit an individual member's access to chat, community posts or photo albums, without removing them from the group.
Who can do this
Group admins. Group admins themselves can't be restricted and aren't in the list.
Restrict a member
- Tap Dashboard, then tap ⋮ at the top right.
- Tap User Management, then Restrict User.
- Find the member, using Search User if needed, and tap them. Their current settings are listed under their name.
- For each feature, choose a level:
| Feature | Read-only | Blocked |
|---|---|---|
| Fella Chat | Can read existing chats but can't send messages or start new ones. | Chat is hidden. |
| Community | Can view the feed but can't post or comment. | The feed is hidden. |
| Photo Album | Can view albums but can't upload. | Albums are hidden. |
Choose Allowed to lift a restriction. Changes apply straight away; there's no save button.
Restrict new members by default
You can have everyone who joins your group from now on start with restrictions, for example read-only community posts until you've met them.
- On Restrict User, tap the person-gear icon at the top right. You'll see Defaults for New Members.
- For each feature, choose Allowed, Read-only or Blocked.
The top of Restrict User shows the current defaults, or "New members start unrestricted".
Defaults only apply to members added afterwards. Members already in your group keep their current settings. Lift a new member's restrictions from Restrict User when you're ready.
