Split a bill

Paid for a group meal? Send a bill in a chat, and everyone sees what they owe and marks it paid.

Not seeing Split Bill?

Split Bill isn't available to everyone yet. If it isn't in your chat menu, it hasn't been turned on for you.

Send a bill

  1. Open the chat with the people who were there.
  2. Tap + next to the message box, then Split Bill.
  3. Choose how to split it:
    • Split Evenly: divide the total equally among participants.
    • Split by Items: each participant picks the items they ordered.
  4. Under Choose Participants, tick everyone who shares the bill. You're always included, as the Payer. Tap Continue.
  5. Fill in the bill (see below) and send it.

The bill appears in the chat for everyone.

Split Evenly

  • Title: what the bill is for.
  • The total amount.
  • Payment Destination: how people should pay you, for example your e-transfer email or phone number. Fella remembers it for next time.
  • Tax, Tip & Discount: tax (0%, 13%, 15% or Custom), tip, and discount (0%, 5%, 10% or Custom). For the tip, choose whether it's worked out Pre-tax or Post-tax.
  • Kid Pricing: shown when a participant has a child profile. Set the percentage of the adult price that kids pay, or Same as adults.

Fella shows the amount / person, or / adult and / kid. Tap Send to Group.

Split by Items

  1. Add each item with Add item: Item name, Quantity and Amount. Or tap Scan receipt to fill the items in from a photo of the receipt. Check them afterwards.
  2. For a dish people share, set Max claimers: how many people can split this item.
  3. Set the Title, Payment Destination and Tax, Tip & Discount as above.
  4. Tap Preview Split, check it on Review & Send, and tap Send Bill.

Pay your share

When a bill arrives in a chat:

  1. For Split by Items, tap Claim Your Items, then tap the items you ordered. Shared items show their price each. Once you've claimed, the bill shows what You owe.
  2. Pay the person who sent it. Tap the payment destination to copy it.
  3. Tap Mark as Paid. The bill shows Payment Sent, and the sender gets a notification.

Tapped it by mistake? Tap Payment Sent again to undo it.

Collect payments

If you sent the bill, tap it to see Who's Paid.

  • When someone marks their share as paid, tap Confirm next to their name once the money has arrived. They'll see Confirmed by your name.
  • The bill shows how many have paid, and All settled when everyone is confirmed.
  • To fix a mistake, tap Edit, make your changes and tap Save Changes. You can change everything except how it's split.
