Change a member's group and roles

Move a member to another small group, or give them a role such as leader or welcomer.

Who can do this

Group admins. You only see the groups you're an admin of.

Open Permissions

  1. Tap Dashboard. Tap the title at the top and switch to Members.
  2. Tap the member.
  3. Tap the lock icon at the top right. You'll see Permissions.

There's one card for each of the member's groups. The top of the card shows their small group, or "No Groups" in red if they aren't in one.

Give or take away a role

Tick a role to give it to the member, or untick it to take it away. Fella asks you to confirm with Grant Access or Remove Access.

Role What it's for
Coach Exclude from attendance
Committee Access dashboard and receive new comer notifications
Leader Receive attendance confirmation and birthday reminders
Welcomer Access new comer information and attendance
Media Team Design event images and posts
Custom Role Group admin defined custom role

Your group may have renamed some roles, and can change what each role is allowed to do. See Manage roles.

Before you change a role

  • If the member has a temporary email, Fella warns you: "This user is using a temporary email and therefore will not receive any email notifications". Give them a real email first if the role relies on email, such as attendance confirmations. See Edit a member's profile.
  • Removing a role also removes the member from any posts that need that role to see them.

Move a member to another small group

  1. On the group's card, tap Switch.
  2. Choose the small group under Switch Group.
  3. Confirm with Switch.

Take a member out of their small group

  1. On the group's card, tap the red exit icon next to Switch.
  2. Confirm with Remove.

The member stays in your group but no longer has a small group, and loses their Leader and Committee roles. To take them out of the group altogether, see Remove members.

Add a member to another group

  1. Tap + at the top right. You'll see Join Group, listing your groups that the member isn't in yet.
  2. Choose a group and confirm with Join Group.
